‘No government will use Ebola as a political weapon,’ says NCDC chief

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control Director General Dr Jide Idris dismissed social media claims on Monday that the government would use Ebola to spread fear ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking on Channels TV, he urged Nigerians to ignore fake news and follow NCDC guidance. Nigeria had earlier confirmed one imported case from Uganda and placed 53 contacts under monitoring in Abuja. The WHO says Nigeria currently has no Ebola cases after the patient was evacuated to Switzerland, while 52 contacts remain under monitoring in Nigeria.
