Olawepo-Hashim visits Sowore and condemns political violence

Former presidential candidate Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim condemned political violence in Nigeria after visiting activist and publisher Omoyele Sowore, who was reportedly attacked in Ekiti State. He urged President Bola Tinubu to rein in members of his team and called on political leaders to avoid actions and rhetoric that could provoke conflict. Recalling that he and Sowore had worked together against military rule in 1989-1990, he warned that Nigeria, already facing terrorism, banditry and kidnappings, could not afford another crisis. Olawepo-Hashim welcomed a United Nations representative’s expression of concern and urged international partners to condemn political violence.
