Electricity: Lease contracts with the state earn Globeleq 6.3 billion CFA francs in interest

Globeleq recorded $10.8 million, or about CFA 6.3 billion, in interest in 2025 on financial receivables linked to the electricity transmission lines serving the Kribi and Dibamba power plants. The receivables are owed by the Cameroonian state under lease contracts, and the interest amounted to $10.7 million in 2024. The contracts’ average implied effective interest rate was 26.3% in 2025, unchanged from 2024. The rate is used to calculate financial returns over the life of the contracts and is not a penalty rate for late state payments.
