PDCI-RDA: Thiam ouster case postponed to November 19 as third lawsuit joins proceedings

The Abidjan Court of First Instance postponed until November 19, 2026, the lawsuits challenging Tidjane Thiam’s presidency of the PDCI-RDA. The judge added a third case, brought by one of the party members challenging the legality of Thiam’s election, which names Thiam personally; a forced intervention also seeks to bring Thiam and party vice-president Georges Philippe Ezaley into the proceedings. Charles Abié Tchétché and Antoine Siaba are seeking to annul the May 2025 extraordinary congress, citing, among other claims, Thiam’s former French nationality and his alleged failure to serve continuously on the political bureau for the ten years before his election.
