Pinga’s phone network restored after nearly two months of disruption

Vodacom service returned on Tuesday, November 3, in Pinga, Walikale territory, North Kivu, after nearly two months of disruption caused by a technical fault. During the outage, residents had to travel more than 20 kilometres to Mutongo to make calls, send messages or carry out mobile money transactions. The disruption also affected commercial activity, humanitarian coordination and the rapid sharing of security alerts. The restored signal is expected to help normalize communications, economic activity and humanitarian and security operations.
