Presidential Panel Submits National Policing Draft and 29 Amendment Bills to Justice Ministry

The Presidential Working Group on the National Policing Bill submitted the 2026 draft bill and 29 consequential amendment bills to the Federal Ministry of Justice on October 19 for review and validation. The Attorney General and Justice Minister is expected to return the validated drafts by October 30. The proposal would establish a dual policing structure with a Federal Police Service and State Police Services. The working group will give the drafts final consideration before presenting them to the president, as state assemblies continue considering the 2026 Sixth Alteration Bill to the Constitution.
