The United Kingdom plans to buy more processed Ivorian cashews over the next two years. British Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire John Mashall says Ivorian cocoa exports to the UK total 50,000 to 60,000 tonnes a year, while coffee and cocoa together account for 70% of export volumes. Around 10% of Côte d’Ivoire’s banana production also goes to the British market. Local processing is expected to enable cashews to be shipped directly to London without passing through Vietnam; bilateral trade reached 840 billion CFA francs in 2025, with Côte d’Ivoire recording a trade surplus.
