Professor Mary Teuw Niane lets loose: “It is a betrayal”

After the National Assembly rejected the 2026 supplementary finance bill, Mary Teuw Niane, chief of staff to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, published an op-ed titled “Betrayal” on November 3. He also criticized the strategy of the National Assembly president, alleging efforts to obstruct the head of state’s work. Niane said the Constitution safeguards state continuity and called for the crisis to become a collective rallying point to advance Senegal’s transformation.

It also objected to Governor Hyacinth Alia chairing the council while Akume was listed only as a member, and accused Alia’s administration of sidelining established party structures since the 2023 elections. The alliance said it remains committed to mobilising support for Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election and for APC candidates recognised by Akume.

The forum credited Audi with improvements in professionalism and operational capacity, including protecting oil and gas facilities, electricity installations and telecommunications infrastructure. It also urged young Nigerians to support security agencies and endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
