Rooney calls United squad ‘selfish babies’ after Fernandes criticism

After Manchester United’s 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como, Wayne Rooney called the players “babies” and “selfish,” saying they were failing to take responsibility. Captain Bruno Fernandes had criticised manager Michael Carrick’s tactics, while Lisandro Martinez had earlier faulted the club’s board for insufficient transfer investment. Rooney warned that the public criticism risked tearing the dressing room apart. United are 13th in the Premier League ahead of Sunday’s match against Bournemouth and could fall into the relegation zone.
