Saly murder: By denouncing the attackers, A. Sy trapped himself and now faces life imprisonment

A. Sy, a gardener living in Saly, has been detained since April 2021 over the murder of Silvia M., the wife of his neighbor T. Koné, who died after a violent assault on April 5. Sy accused M. Thiam and C. Fall, now on the run, saying he had overheard them discussing the crime and sharing the stolen goods in a bar. During questioning, he gave police details that investigators and doctors were believed to be the only ones to know, raising suspicions against him. At his criminal court hearing five years after the killing, Sy denied involvement, while the prosecutor sought a life sentence.
