The Senate of the Democratic Republic of the Congo adopted in second reading a bill setting the conditions for organizing referendums, introduced by lawmaker Paul Gaspard Ngondankoy Nkoy Ea Loongya. All 78 senators who took part voted in favor, following review of the Senate’s PAJ commission report and a request for a new deliberation from President Félix Tshisekedi after the Constitutional Court issued reservations. Senate President Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde said the bill would be sent to the head of state for promulgation under Article 136 of the Constitution.
