Signalling works along a 605-kilometre stretch of the Kasaï River between Kwamouth and Ilebo have been completed. Brinto Desami, head of hydrography in the Grand Bandundu area, announced the completion on 27 October 2026, saying the markers are intended to make navigation safer and reduce river accidents. He urged river users to follow the signs and called for regular maintenance because water levels and sandbanks change over time. The Kauka boat used for the work is currently docked at the ONATRA port in Bandundu-Ville.
