Six people, including a man transporting his wife’s body from Kano to Okpoga for burial, were abducted at about 8 p.m. Friday along Adoka Road in Benue State. The other five victims were mourners accompanying the widower; his wife’s body was left in the vehicle. The kidnappers are reportedly demanding N15 million, and the victims were still being held on Monday, according to community member Meddy Olotu and Otukpo council chairman Maxwell Ogiri. FRSC personnel reportedly found the body and took it to a mortuary in Adoka, while Olotu urged authorities to step up efforts to secure the victims’ release.

California says the list is unreliable and may include thousands of eligible US citizens, while state officials say separating the ballots would be nearly impossible. A federal judge and an appeals court rejected the request; Judge David Carter warned that discounting votes based on unproven allegations would put democracy in danger.

17 Abducted Kaduna Worshippers Died in Captivity, CSW Says

Christian Solidarity Worldwide Nigeria said 17 of the 37 worshippers abducted during attacks on three churches in Ariko, Kaduna State, on April 5, 2026, died in captivity; 12 escaped and eight were released after five months. CEO Rev. Yunusa Nmadu also reported that six of 11 people abducted in Awon on April 20 were killed, while four remained captive six months later. He recalled the January abduction of 177 worshippers in Kurmin Wali, who were released after 18 days, and said insecurity had restricted worship and forced thousands of residents to flee. Nmadu also alleged that captives faced sexual violence, food and water deprivation, and other inhumane treatment.
