Sokoto ADC and APC Trade Accusations over Alleged Rally Attack

ADC gubernatorial candidate Manir Muhammad Dan’iya alleged that about 5,000 women and youths attending a rally for his 2027 bid were attacked during a procession in Sokoto on Tuesday. His aide, Aminu Abdullahi, said APC supporters injured several women, tore veils, damaged vehicles and stole valuables; the claims have not been independently verified. Dan’iya called for an investigation and prosecution, while Malami Muhammad Galadanchi Bajare, an adviser to Governor Ahmed Aliyu, denied the allegations and claimed ADC supporters attacked APC youths and seized two motorcycles. Bajare said police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps personnel were at the scene.
