Orania, a closed community reserved for Afrikaners located in the Northern Cape province, was founded in 1991 in the context of the post-apartheid transition. It attracts a new youth, particularly around the Stokkies bar. Spokesperson Joost Strydom states that the town has little political influence and that its residents simply want to build a future far from everything.
