South Kivu: Civil society alarmed by deteriorating security in Buhozi

The Nouvelle Dynamique de la Société Civile (NDSCI) voiced concern on October 22 after an armed attack in Buhozi, in the Mudusa groupement of Kabare territory, on the night of October 19. NDSCI/Mudusa president Elvis Namegabe said the death toll had risen to three after Chikuru Bagula, one of the wounded, died at a hospital in Bukavu; several other residents were shot and property was reportedly taken. The organization urged authorities to strengthen civilian protection and launch independent, transparent investigations. In a separate incident in Irambi-Katana, residents killed two people suspected of theft on Wednesday evening.
