Spain: Senegalese man shot dead in Pechina, no suspects arrested

A Senegalese man died Saturday morning at Torrecárdenas University Hospital after being shot in the abdomen during overnight gunfire in Pechina, in Almería province. The violence began around 2:50 a.m. in the Los Cortijillos district, where a group of about 15 people of sub-Saharan origin was reportedly targeted; one man was beaten. Around 4:45 a.m., gunfire also struck homes on Calle Sierra María, and the wounded Senegalese man died despite emergency surgery; another compatriot who had been beaten was released from hospital after treatment. Residents alleged that a local clan was trying to drive them out and cited an earlier arson attack, but authorities have not confirmed those accounts; more than 24 hours later, no suspects had been arrested.

Regarding the legal proceedings involving AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, the group urged the party to pursue remedies through the courts and respect judicial independence. It called on AAC leaders and young supporters to avoid mobilisation that could lead to violence or obstruct court proceedings ahead of the 2027 elections.
