Strike: SSANU suspends two-week ultimatum

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has suspended its two-week ultimatum asking the federal government to fund the 2026 FGN/SSANU Agreement. The decision followed the release on October 7 of eight months of CONTTA arrears owed to members for January through August 2026, averting the threatened total and indefinite strike for now. National President Mohamed Ibrahim urged the government to also pay one year of outstanding 2023 salary-award arrears of 25% and 35%, along with two months of salaries withheld in 2022.
