Technology: Recharge a battery in 7 minutes? An African inventor has done it!

Moroccan researcher and inventor Rachid Yazami announced in Singapore on October 29, 2026, that his company KVI’s nonlinear voltammetry (NLV) technology had fully recharged a battery in seven minutes. According to the company, a commercially available lithium iron phosphate cell charged from 10% to 70% in 3.7 minutes, with its temperature remaining below 50°C. The method gradually adjusts voltage in response to the battery’s behavior instead of applying a constant current. Further testing is needed to determine whether the results can be reproduced with larger batteries in real-world conditions; KVI is targeting the automotive sector.
