Things Get More Complicated for Nationalist Influencer “Keylor”

Papa Saliou Ciss, known as Keylor, was taken into custody in Dakar after a complaint by El Hadji Boubacar Ba, president of the National Federation of Shopkeepers for Modernisation. Ba accuses him of posting TikTok videos claiming that shopkeepers were boycotting Senegalese products, including Kirène, Séo and Casamançaise water and locally made sugar. Ciss admitted publishing the videos but said he intended to alert authorities and protect consumers, not stigmatise shopkeepers or make a categorical accusation. He is due to be referred to the prosecutor on charges including defamation, unlawful collection of personal data, incitement to racial discrimination and incitement to hatred.
