Togo’s Cereal Production Expected to Rise 4.3% in 2026–2027

Togo’s cereal output is forecast at 1,955,893 tonnes for the 2026–2027 agricultural season, up 4.3% from the previous season and 25.2% above the five-year average, according to FEWS NET. Harvests are expected to improve households’ access to their own food supplies, but insecurity in Kpendjal and Kpendjal-Ouest continues to restrict access to farmland and markets. In September 2026, maize averaged 155 CFA francs per kilogram, down 54% year on year, benefiting consumers while reducing producers’ revenues. The national food security agency, ANSAT, plans to buy about 13,000 tonnes for 2.6 billion CFA francs to strengthen national reserves and support producers.

He says his economic recovery plan would boost local production, support minimum-wage earners and students, and reduce government waste.
