UAE sentences eight people to life over arms supplies to Sudan’s army

Abu Dhabi’s Federal Court of Appeal sentenced eight people to life in prison for arms trafficking and money laundering tied to supplies of weapons, ammunition and military equipment to Sudan’s army. State news agency WAM said the convicted individuals used UAE companies and bank accounts to channel funds and conceal their sources and destinations. The court ordered the confiscation of ammunition and communications devices used in the crimes, and the deportation of the defendants after they serve their sentences. The case comes amid Sudan’s army accusations that Abu Dhabi supplies its rival, the Rapid Support Forces, allegations the UAE denies; the war has displaced more than 14 million people.

The DSS did not immediately confirm the invitations, amid a dispute following the death of Oba Sikiru Adetona in July 2025.
