#UniteBehind to hand PRASA corruption demands to NPA in Cape Town
The civil society group #UniteBehind is calling on South Africa's National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to investigate and arrest those responsible for corruption and the collapse of PRASA, the passenger rail service. On October 13, they will deliver a demands letter in Cape Town. The coalition has been demanding investigations for nine years, highlighting corruption dating back to 2013, including a R3.5 billion contract for locomotives, of which only 13 arrived and seven were sold for R65 million. Reports such as the 2015 Public Protector report and court rulings have exposed mismanagement, irregular contracts, and embezzlement related to PRASA.
