UWE Bristol student admits murdering housemate in knife attack after rent dispute

Zack Coughlan, 23, pleaded guilty to murdering his housemate Jamie Collins, 21, whom he stabbed more than 30 times in a masked ambush near their home in Filton on 8 April. He had initially denied murder while admitting he killed Collins, and told jurors he feared his housemate would kill him. Coughlan left Collins’s body in an alley for eight hours and tried to dispose of evidence before calling police. Both men were final-year robotics students at the University of the West of England, and Coughlan is due to be sentenced on Wednesday.
