“Massive mobilization”: FSDT announces press conference after October 21–23 strike

The Front syndical pour la défense du travail (FSDT) says its general strike on October 21, 22 and 23, 2026, was widely followed in Senegal’s public and private sectors. The union describes the action as a “massive mobilization,” despite what it says were requisitions and threats, as well as measures imposed by the authorities. It will present participation figures by region and sector at a press conference on October 24 at 10 a.m. at the CNTS headquarters in Keur Madia. The meeting is also expected to set out the movement’s next steps and action calendar.

The collective is calling for recruitment networks to be identified, deaths to be clarified, bodies to be repatriated, and assistance for Cameroonians seeking to leave combat zones.
