Morocco: Belgium seeks to thwart Ouahbi’s plans with rising star Adnane Abid

After Morocco preselected Adnane Abid for upcoming international fixtures, the Belgian federation contacted the 23-year-old winger to ask about his international future. Simon Mignolet, now a technical official with the Belgian federation, reached out to the Standard Liège player, who has scored three goals in nine league matches and one in the Belgian Cup. Born in Verviers, Abid represented Belgium’s youth teams through the under-19 level, but he has already voiced a preference for Morocco, saying he feels a strong attachment to the country.
