ISWAP Shura Council Member and Top Commanders Killed as Troops Repel Borno Attack

Troops from Operation HADIN KAI repelled an ISWAP attack on their positions in Kukawa, Borno State, on Saturday, October 31, 2026. Security analyst Zagazola Makama said Abu Hajara, a member of ISWAP’s Shura Council, and Abul Walid, a commander close to the group’s Wali, Ba Shuwa, were among those killed, along with two senior Arab fighters. Troops used ground firepower and air support, and recovered arms, ammunition and communication devices. The clash came three days after a reported operation in Buni Yadi in which 55 terrorists, including commanders, were said to have been killed.
