Burkina Faso signed three bilateral mobile-roaming protocols in Ouagadougou with Benin, Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal. The regulators aim to reduce cross-border telecommunications costs for people travelling within the WAEMU region. Wendlassida Patrice Compaoré signed the agreements with Gildas Cédric Ballo, Guy-Michel Kouakou and Cheikh Tidiane Sarr, in the presence of Burkina Faso’s digital transition minister, Aminata Zerbo/Sabane. The initiative forms part of the WAEMU Commission’s 2025–2030 strategic plan, known as Impact 2030.
