Western Cape police commissioner promises security at all voting stations

Western Cape Police Commissioner Major General Sizakhele Dyantyi promised voters would be able to exercise their right to vote safely in the local elections on November 4, 2026. Speaking in Belhar to hundreds of law enforcement officials, he said police, detectives, crime intelligence and the Hawks would be deployed across the province, with staffing tailored to each voting station. Dyantyi said authorities would not tolerate lawlessness and would respond to emerging threats. Intelligence and previous crime incidents are being used to identify 33 high-risk areas.
