Yobe court sentences man to death for killing wife

The Yobe State High Court in Damaturu sentenced 45-year-old Abubakar Musa to death by hanging for killing his wife, Ammi Adamu Mamman. Musa was arrested on January 4, 2024, after allegedly attacking her neck with a sharp object while they were in the same bed, causing fatal bleeding. The court ruled that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt, and Musa retains the right to appeal. Mamman was a staff member of Yobe State University and a volunteer with a civil society organization; she was buried in Potiskum on January 9, 2024.
