Trump ordered to answer questions under oath in BBC lawsuit

A US judge ordered Donald Trump to answer questions under oath in the BBC’s defamation case by 11 December, unless the discovery period is extended. Trump sued the BBC in Florida, alleging it deceptively edited sections of his 6 January 2021 speech before the Capitol riot. The BBC apologised for the edit, saying it gave the mistaken impression that Trump had directly called for violence, and has asked the court to dismiss the lawsuit. Trump’s lawyers proposed that he be interviewed between 11 and 22 January, while the BBC disputes that the documentary was available in the US.
