Ukraine: France seeks to make Europe’s voice heard at Abu Dhabi talks

France will participate in U.S.-mediated talks between Russia and Ukraine scheduled for November 10 and 11 in Abu Dhabi, Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said on RTL on November 8. Paris wants Europe’s voice heard in the discussions, which Barrot said directly concern the continent, though France has not yet named its representative. Previous rounds in Abu Dhabi, held in late January and early February, took place without European participants. Barrot said no agreement on Europe’s security architecture can be devised or discussed without the Europeans.
