Germany: Doctor accused of sexually assaulting more than 70 children goes on trial

The trial of a 46-year-old pediatrician opened Monday in Potsdam, in Brandenburg. Accused of 130 offenses against more than 70 children and adolescents, he admitted most of the allegations and expressed a deep sense of guilt. Prosecutors say the assaults mainly took place between 2013 and 2025 at two hospitals in Rathenow and Nauen, sometimes under the pretext of medical examinations, and that some were filmed. Fifteen victims or their legal representatives have joined the case as civil parties; a verdict is expected in mid-December.
