Zamfara North: Kaura secures APC ticket

Yahaya Tijjani Kaura won the APC ticket for Zamfara North Senatorial District in a rerun primary held in Gusau. He received 16,758 votes, defeating his main rival, Sahabi Yari Alhaji, who polled 1,465, while Abdullahi Shinkafi secured 1,447. The fresh vote followed the Court of Appeal in Sokoto’s annulment of the previous primary for violating party guidelines and the Electoral Act, upholding an earlier Federal High Court ruling. Returning officer Sani Abdullahi certified Kaura’s victory, giving him a 15,293-vote margin over the runner-up.

It also objected to Governor Hyacinth Alia chairing the council while Akume was listed only as a member, and accused Alia’s administration of sidelining established party structures since the 2023 elections. The alliance said it remains committed to mobilising support for Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election and for APC candidates recognised by Akume.

The forum credited Audi with improvements in professionalism and operational capacity, including protecting oil and gas facilities, electricity installations and telecommunications infrastructure. It also urged young Nigerians to support security agencies and endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
