Radicalization of the doctors' strike: hospitals without doctors in several cities

Since July 7, 2026, Congolese doctors have entered a radicalization phase of their strike with a total work stoppage, called by the National Union of Doctors (SYNAMED). The operation 'Hospitals without doctors' concerns all provinces except North Kivu, South Kivu, and Ituri, due to insecurity and the Ebola epidemic. Emergency services and blood banks remain operational. This movement follows a strike that began on June 24, 2026, with minimal service, and aims to force the government to honor commitments made three years ago.
