KADGIS warns against unauthorised land sales in six Kaduna police barracks

The Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) says it did not authorise Aftech Industries Limited to create land layouts or sell plots in six police barracks. The affected sites include Gabasawa Barracks, Mounted Troops Barracks, the SPO’s Quarters on College Road and MTD Barracks in Sabon-Gari. In a notice dated October 21, 2026, and signed by Director-General Bashir Garba Ibrahim, KADGIS urged the public to verify property status and title validity with the agency before buying. It warned that transaction documents alone do not prove a valid land title and that buyers who fail to verify do so at their own risk.

Amnesty International Nigeria Country Director Andrew Mamedu said allegations of extortion, arbitrary arrests and excessive force persist, while reports of tear gas being used against anniversary commemorators raised further concerns. The stakeholders also called for safeguards against political misuse of security agencies ahead of the 2027 elections and warned that state police must have effective accountability mechanisms.
