2027: ‘We’ll make those who rig elections pay,’ Peter Obi warns

Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, said at a party town hall in Nasarawa that people involved in election rigging would be prosecuted and jailed if he won the 2027 election. He said he would strengthen political parties and reform the electoral process to prevent manipulation. Obi also proposed requiring candidates to have attended primary and secondary school, with prison terms for anyone who forged academic certificates. He said the rule of law would apply to everyone, including officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
