Kidnapping in S-West business-driven, not religious —Ex-Minister, Olanrewaju

Former Minister of Communications, Maj. Gen. Tajudeen Olanrewaju (retd.), described the ongoing kidnapping and terrorism in South-West Nigeria as a profit-driven enterprise, not a struggle for territory or religious ideology. He noted that perpetrators employ guerrilla tactics to overstretch security forces and instill fear. He warned that Lagos and the South-West cannot be isolated from instability, and the situation may be exploited for political ends. He emphasized that the threat has evolved into terrorism, beyond mere banditry.
