Abdullahi Askira, the Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, has withdrawn from the senatorial race for the Southern Borno zone, endorsing incumbent Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume. Askira, who has been a member of the Assembly since 2007 and Deputy Speaker since 2023, made this decision after extensive consultations, including a meeting with Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum. He urged his supporters to accept his decision and rally behind Ndume to ensure victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.
