Cocoa: International Prices Weigh Down CEMAC Agricultural Export Costs in Q1 2026

International prices of agricultural products exported by CEMAC countries fell 21.8% between Q4 2025 and Q1 2026, according to the BEAC's Composite Index of Commodity Prices (ICCPB). The decline was strongly driven by cocoa, whose global prices dropped 24.6% quarter-on-quarter, compared to a 4.5% drop for coffee. BEAC analysts did not explain the fall, but market analysts attribute it to unfavorable market conditions and an expected return to surplus according to the ICCO.
