Appeal Court Upholds Ruling on Zamfara APC Primary

The Court of Appeal in Sokoto dismissed Senator Sahabi Ya’u Kaura’s appeal and upheld the Federal High Court judgment in Gusau concerning the APC senatorial primary in Zamfara North. Lula challenges Bolsonaro to release personal records before election

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva offered to release his bank, tax and telephone records, along with those of his family, if right-wing Senator and presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro did the same before the election’s second round. At a campaign event in Maranhão state, Lula questioned whether his opponent had the courage to disclose his records and said he wanted Brazilians to see who was corrupt. Corruption has become a central campaign issue amid a scandal involving disgraced banker Daniel Vorcaro, to whom Flávio Bolsonaro is directly linked. The scandal has also affected Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court, which sentenced Flávio’s father, Jair Bolsonaro, to 27 years in prison over his role in a coup plot.
