Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, a member of the Houthi political bureau, threatened to impose a 'siege' on Saudi Arabia in retaliation for the attack on Sanaa International Airport on July 13, 2026. The attack, claimed by Yemen's internationally recognized government, aimed to prevent an Iranian plane carrying a Houthi delegation from landing. The delegation was returning from the funeral of Iran's late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, killed in the US-Israeli war on Iran. Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree said the attack ended the 'de-escalation phase' of Yemen's war.
