Tensions escalate in the Middle East

The United States launched new strikes on Iranian military installations, targeting coastal defense systems, missile sites, and maritime capabilities, aiming to prevent Iran from threatening navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, through which nearly 20% of the world's oil and gas transits. In retaliation, Iran attacked US interests and allies in Bahrain, as well as tankers linked to the United Arab Emirates, ending a provisional agreement meant to reopen the strait. US President Donald Trump announced the reinstatement of a blockade against Iran and raised the possibility of charging tolls for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
