Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir announced a national operation to combat youth violence following the murder of former Israeli soldier Yemanu Binyamin Zalka. Critics point out his lack of action regarding the ongoing violence epidemic in Palestinian communities, which has resulted in nearly 100 deaths and costs the country up to $6.7 billion annually. Under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's administration, the murder rate in these communities has significantly increased to 11 per 100,000, comparable to that of Sudan and Iraq.
