Troops repel ISWAP terrorists' attack in Yobe

Nigerian Army troops repelled an attempted attack by suspected ISWAP terrorists on April 26 along the Maiduguri-Damaturu road in Yobe State. The insurgents, mounted on about six gun trucks and several motorcycles, were detected approximately one kilometer from the troops' position. The soldiers responded swiftly with a combination of direct and indirect firepower, overwhelming the attackers and forcing them to retreat. Troops have maintained heightened vigilance in the area to prevent further insurgent attempts.
