The Democratic Republic of Congo generates carbon credits through REDD+ projects, but a Pulitzer Center investigation in May 2025 revealed that the company Jadora sold over 1.3 million credits between 2015 and 2024 without the people of Yafunga benefiting. Promised infrastructure (schools, health centers, roads) was not built.
