2027: Makinde pledges to revive South-East industries

Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate Seyi Makinde pledged to tackle high interest rates and expand access to long-term financing to revive South-East industries if elected in 2027. At a meeting with regional stakeholders in Enugu, the Oyo State governor described manufacturing, including in Onitsha and Nnewi, as a driver of growth and job creation. He said his reforms would shift Nigeria away from dependence on federal allocations towards production, industrial expansion and wealth creation. Makinde also backed skills training and support for entrepreneurs as ways to reduce youth unemployment.

They call for an end to special arrangements between the Mines administration and mining companies and propose a multi-stakeholder workshop.
