Benue SEMA warns of rising snakebites and treats two displaced people

Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) says snakebite cases are rising, affecting farmers, internally displaced people and other vulnerable residents. Isaac Shula, 35, and Mbapuun Tyoshio, 19, from Daudu 1 IDP camp were bitten while working on their farms and are receiving care at Benue State University Teaching Hospital in Makurdi. SEMA said two patients had been discharged in the past two weeks while others remained admitted, and urged people to seek medical attention immediately after a bite. The agency also called on the public to disregard reports it considers misleading and politically motivated, reaffirming its commitment to assisting victims.
