Nigeria: fourteen states threatened by flooding

Nigerian authorities are warning that 14 of the country's 36 states could face flooding as the rainy season intensifies. Floods may affect schools and health centers, and people in vulnerable areas are advised to seek safer shelter. Nigeria experiences flooding every year during the six-month rainy season. Climate change has increased the risk of rainfall in West Africa fivefold, and nearly 100 people died in floods in the region last month.
