IEBC Seeks Additional Ksh33.5 Billion to Fund 2027 General Election Preparations

Kenya's Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is seeking an additional Ksh33.5 billion from the National Treasury for 2027 general election preparations after Parliament allocated only Ksh41.3 billion of the requested Ksh74.8 billion. The commission projects an increase in polling stations from about 46,000 in 2022 to 55,000 and plans to spend Ksh9.3 billion on replacing and expanding KIEMS kits.
